“Roberts Rankings”-Football

Wilson and Twin Valley switched spots at the top of my rankings. The Bulldogs’ defense was outstanding and Louisville commit Justice Hardy returned from injury against Manheim Township. The Blue Streaks were ranked #9 in the state in Class 6A by PennLive. They were held to 145 total yards, 1.6 yards per carry, and zero points at John Gurski Stadium. Wyomissing and Conrad Weiser flip-flopped at #4 and #5 in my new poll. Schuylkill Valley and Berks Catholic entered the rankings this week, while Fleetwood and Boyertown dropped out.

Wilson faces Reading this Friday in West Lawn. The (1-3) Red Knights have lost 14 straight in this series. Reading’s last win over the Bulldogs was back in 2003.

Twin Valley takes on Garden Spot in Elverson this week. The (2-2) Spartans used a big second half to top Fleetwood 52-14 in Week 4. Seth Musselman has a team-high 268 rushing yards and 5 TD. The 5’9, 160-pound senior also leads Garden Spot with 13 receptions for 135 yards and a touchdown.

Exeter squares off with Gov. Mifflin at Don Thomas Stadium on Friday. The Eagles are allowing just 9.8 points per game. Senior linebacker Donovyn Alvarez has a team-high 31 tackles. The Mustangs are searching for their first victory of the season.

Wyomissing travels to ELCO this week. The (2-2) Raiders handed Conrad Weiser its first loss last Friday. The Scouts came up short 21-12. They visit winless Octorara this week. The Braves fell at Daniel Boone 34-28 last Friday.

Muhlenberg looks to get back on track when Lebanon comes to Laureldale this week. The Cedars’ losing streak is up to 56 consecutive games. They were blown out by Elizabethtown 85-6 last Friday.

Schuylkill Valley has won three in a row. The Panthers are averaging 40.3 ppg. during that stretch. They’re on the road versus Berks Catholic this week. The Saints earned their first victory with a 38-7 rout of Hamburg.

Fleetwood hosts Manheim Central on Friday. The (2-2) Barons got blanked by Twin Valley 39-0 in Week 4.

Boyertown is home against Spring-Ford on Friday. The (3-1) Rams lost to Downingtown East 35-7 a week ago.
