The seeds for the BCIAA baseball playoffs were finalized today. There were no challenges by the coaches this year. Gov. Mifflin is the defending Berks County champion. The Mustangs beat Berks Catholic 11-1 last season for their 16th county title. Gov. Mifflin’s players and coaches had to hold their breath today. Although Twin Valley won 5-3 at Kutztown last night, it wasn’t enough to push the Raiders past the Mustangs. Gov. Mifflin’s power ranking of .617 was slightly higher than Twin Valley’s rating of .612. That slim margin determined the final berth into the BCIAA tournament.
The Berks County quarterfinals will be held on Thursday, May 7th. The sites are Owls Field in West Lawn and Muhlenberg. The semifinals will take place at Owls Field on Saturday, May 9th. The first game of the doubleheader will begin at 1pm. The championship is set for 6:05pm on Monday, May 11th at FirstEnergy Energy Stadium.
