#1 seed Manheim Township beat #4 Cumberland Valley 37-27 in the District 3-6A semifinals. Head coach Mark Evans earned his 100th victory with the Blue Streaks over 12 seasons. Hayden Johnson became the school’s all-time passing leader. Manheim Township is (12-0).
#5 seed Ephrata blew out #8 Hershey 47-7 in the District 3-5A semifinals. The Mounts are (12-1). This is just their second appearance in the District 3 playoffs, and first since 1987.
#3 seed Cocalico won at #2 Cedar Cliff 31-13 in the District 3-5A semifinals. The (11-1) Eagles will host Ephrata next Friday night. Cocalico is searching for its second straight title and fifth overall.
#1 seed Bishop McDevitt cruised past #5 Lampeter-Strasburg 43-7 in the District 3-4A semifinals. The (12-0) Crusaders have won 25 consecutive games.
#3 seed Manheim Central ran over #2 Twin Valley 65-28 in Elverson. The (11-1) Barons will visit Bishop McDevitt next week for the District 3-4A championship. Manheim Central has won a record 18 District 3 titles, two more than Bishop McDevitt. Twin Valley finished the season at (10-2).
On Saturday, #2 seed Harrisburg is home against #3 Central York in the District 3-6A semifinals. Top-seeded Wyomissing battles #3 West Perry at Bob Wolfrum Field in the District 3-3A final. The (10-1) Spartans are looking for their fifth title in a row and 12th overall. The (11-1) Mustangs have never claimed a District 3 championship. They lost at Wyomissing 63-7 last year. Both games begin at 1pm.
