It was a big night for Berks County football teams in the District 3 playoffs. They went (4-1) overall.
#5 Wilson knocked off the defending Class 6A champion and #1 seed Central York 14-11. The Panthers missed a 32-yard field goal with one second left. This is their first loss of the season. The (9-3) Bulldogs have won seven straight games. They’re headed to the District 3-6A championship game.
#1 Gov. Mifflin rolled over #8 Warwick 63-35 in the District 3-5A quarterfinals. Nick Singleton ran for 320 yards and scored 7TD! The PSU commit is up to 111 career touchdowns. The Mustangs improve to (9-0). They’re the top-ranked team in the state in Class 5A.
#7 Exeter won at #2 Manheim Central 43-26 in the District 3-5A quarterfinals. The game wasn’t even that close. The Eagles led 43-8 early in the fourth quarter! Exeter is (8-3). The Eagles will travel to #6 Cedar Cliff for a semifinal.
#4 Berks Catholic used a big fourth quarter to beat #5 Cocalico 21-7 in the District 3-4A quarterfinals. JayJay Jordan had two TD runs in the final four minutes for the Saints. (7-4) Berks Catholic will visit top-seeded Bishop McDevitt in the semifinals.
#3 Hamburg lost at #2 Boiling Springs 35-7 in the District 3-3A semifinals. The Hawks finish (7-4). They earned their first District 3 playoff victory this season.
