Most football games are decided at the line of scrimmage. There were two critical 4th and 1 plays in the final eight minutes of the Exeter-Berks Catholic Section 1 matchup. First, Ty Yocum and the Eagles’ defense stuffed the Saints at Berks Catholic’s 29-yard line. Yocum told me that he knew what play was coming. Two and a-half minutes later, Yocum picked up a big first down at the Saints’ 20-yard line. He followed that carry with a 1-yard TD run, and Exeter defeated Berks Catholic 33-21. Yocum finished with 32 yards and 2TD on eight carries. The 220-pound FB/LB loves short yardage situations. You will find out what advice Yocum gave to Eric Nangle who ran for 131 yards and a score. Plus, you will learn Yocum’s nickname. The Eagles are 5-3. They take on Reading next week. The Saints were up 21-14 midway through the third quarter. They’re also 5-3. Jay Jay Jordan had a 75-yard TD catch, a 21-yard TD run, and a 76-yard kickoff return that set up Berks Catholic’s first score.
