How did Wyomissing fullback Tommy Grabowski feel after running the ball 28 times against Middletown on Saturday afternoon? He told me, “I think I’m going to go home and go right to sleep!” The 200-pound senior finished with 157 yards and 2TD. Grabowski is up to 1,018 yards and 20TD this season. The (12-0) Spartans shutout #5 seed Middletown 14-0 in the District 3-3A semifinals. They met for the sixth consecutive year in the playoffs. Wyomissing has won the last three matchups. Grabowski is a three-year starter at linebacker. The Spartans held the Blue Raiders to 48 total yards! 6’4, 240-pound fullback Tajae Broadie managed just 23 yards on eight carries. Broadie has numerous Division I offers. Grabowski said Wyomissing has a lot of leaders on defense including fellow linebacker Jack Miller. This was the Spartans’ closest game of the season. They led 7-0 at halftime before going on a 17-play, 79-yard TD drive to open the third quarter. Grabowski ended that eight minute possession with a 2-yard run on 4th and goal. He knows that playing in a competitive game will help the Spartans as the postseason continues. Wyomissing will host #2 seed Boiling Springs in the District 3-3A championship next Saturday afternoon.
