“Roberts Rankings”-Football

Six of my top eight teams won last week. The only change in my new poll is Schuylkill Valley and Muhlenberg flipping spots. We have another Thursday game this week. Berks Catholic hosts Kutztown in a Section 5 matchup. Kickoff for that one is set for 6pm. The Saints and Cougars are both (2-4) and coming off wins.

Wilson visits Hempfield on Friday night. The (3-3) Black Knights got tripped up by Penn Manor 28-23 a week ago. The Bulldogs’ defense continues to shine. They’ve given up just 13 total points in their last four games.

Twin Valley travels to Solanco for a huge Week 7 battle. The Raiders are #1 in the District 3-5A power rankings. The (6-0) Golden Mules aren’t far behind. They’re putting up 43.5 points per game. Junior running back Wesley Bard is averaging an incredible 21 yards per carry. He’s already over 1,000 rushing yards this season with 15 TD. Meanwhile, Twin Valley has only allowed 33 points all year with three shutouts.

Exeter is third in those District 3-5A power rankings. The Eagles have won four in a row. They head to Lebanon on Friday. The Cedars are stuck in a 58-game losing streak. They fell to Gov. Mifflin 71-14 last week.

Wyomissing meets Daniel Boone this Saturday at 1:30pm at Bob Wolfrum Field. The Spartans are searching for their fourth straight victory. The (2-4) Blazers have dropped four of their last five games.

Conrad Weiser takes on Donegal this Friday in Robesonia. Junior running back Kole Kupper is 90 rushing yards shy of 1,000 this fall. He’s averaging 6.6 yards per carry with 14 touchdowns. The (3-3) Indians have lost three in a row. They were defeated by Wyomissing 41-6 a week ago.

Schuylkill Valley is #1 in the District 3-3A power rankings. The Panthers are followed by Wyomissing and Hamburg. Schuylkill Valley hosts Lancaster Catholic on Friday as Bruce Harbach faces his former team. Harbach guided the Crusaders to state championships in 2009 and 2011. Lancaster Catholic dipped to (4-2) after last week’s 32-27 loss to Hamburg.

Muhlenberg is preparing for another tough customer. The Muhls play Conestoga Valley on Friday in Laureldale. The (5-1) Buckskins beat Cocalico 47-25 last week. Senior quarterback Camryn Bair has thrown for 967 yards and 10 TD. He also leads CV with 556 rushing yards and ten more scores.

Fleetwood is home against Warwick this Saturday. They’ll get started at 7pm. The (0-6) Warriors have been through a gauntlet. Their opponents are (26-10) this season.

Without further ado, here is my new Berks County high school football poll. Remember that no matter where your favorite team is ranked, the sun will come out tomorrow!
