We’ve reached the midway point of the season and the cream is rising to the top. The top six teams in my poll all won last week. The top five squads have a combined record of (23-2)!
The big game in Week 6 is at Shillington. Wilson and Gov. Mifflin square off for the 67th time. The rivalry began in 1954. The Bulldogs have won ten of the last thirteen contests, including a 21-14 victory a season ago. Wilson leads the all-time series (39-27).
Exeter has outscored its opponents 223-20 this year. The Eagles battle Ephrata in Reiffton on Friday. The (3-2) Mounts were the District 3-5A runner-up in 2023. They reached the championship game for the first time in school history before falling to Cocalico.
Twin Valley continues to steamroll through the competition. The Raiders are averaging 50 points per game. They travel to (2-3) Northern Lebanon this week. Wyomissing is also on the road. The Spartans face the (1-4) Donegal Indians on Friday night.
Conrad Weiser meets Solanco in Robesonia this week. The (2-3) Golden Mules lost to Eastern York 57-50 a week ago. Muhlenberg visits winless Elizabethtown on Friday. The Muhls try to get back on track after a 41-6 loss at Gov. Mifflin on Sunday afternoon.
The only change in my poll is at the #8 spot. Berks Catholic fell out of my rankings after a surprising 30-28 loss at Lancaster Catholic. The (2-3) Saints came up short despite outgaining the Crusaders 400-233. Schuylkill Valley is back in after shutting out Pequea Valley 33-0. The Panthers are at Berks Catholic this Friday in a key game in Section 5.
Here is my latest Berks County high school football poll. Remember that no matter where your favorite team is ranked, the sun will come out tomorrow!
