“Roberts Rankings”-Football

We flip the calendar to September and head into Week 3 of the high school football season. Only four Berks County teams remain undefeated. While Schuylkill Valley and Berks Catholic aren’t in my poll this week, you could make a case for both teams. The (1-1) Saints picked up a last second victory over Executive Education Academy Charter. Berks Catholic visits Bethlehem Catholic this Thursday night. The (1-1) Hawks fell to Emmaus 31-21 last week. The (1-1) Panthers held off Daniel Boone 31-27. Schuylkill Valley travels to Fleetwood on Friday.

Exeter hits the road to face Pleasant Valley. The (0-2) Bears got shutout 35-0 by Gov. Mifflin in their season opener. Wilson has a big test at Nazareth. I’ll have updates of that intriguing District 3 vs. District 11 battle. The (2-0) Blue Eagles are led by 6’5 junior quarterback Peyton Falzone. He’s committed to Virginia Tech. Nazareth took care of Hazleton and Whitehall by a combined score of 76-13.

Twin Valley entertains Olney from Philadelphia. The Trojans are searching for their first win. Wyomissing meets Academy of the New Church on Friday. That’s a 4:15pm kickoff at Bryn Athyn College. The (0-1) Lions suffered a 18-10 setback to Holy Cross Prep from New Jersey.

Conrad Weiser makes a trip down Route 422 to Lebanon. The Cedars have dropped 34 consecutive games. The Scouts jumped from #8 to #5 in my rankings. Gov. Mifflin visits Hempfield. The Black Knights have split their first two contests. The Mustangs slipped one spot to #6 after losing at Perkiomen Valley 31-14.

Reading moved into my poll with a 34-20 victory over rival Muhlenberg at Shirk Stadium. The (1-1) Emmaus Hornets host the Red Knights this week. Meanwhile, the Muhls take on Daniel Boone in Laureldale on Friday.

Here are my Berks County high school football rankings. There are no changes in the top four positions in my poll. Remember that no matter where your favorite team is ranked, the sun will come out tomorrow!
