“Roberts Rankings”-Football

Here are my Berks County high school football rankings. You will notice some significant changes at the top of my poll. Remember that no matter where your favorite team is ranked, the sun will come out tomorrow!

Exeter and Wyomissing switched spots in this week’s poll. The undefeated Eagles face Hempfield on Friday at Don Thomas Stadium. The Black Knights are (2-5) and coming off a 49-34 loss to Wilson. The Bulldogs stay at #2 in my rankings. They’ve won five in a row. Wilson meets Penn Manor at John Gurski Stadium this week. The Comets are (0-32) all-time against the Bulldogs. Penn Manor has won three straight including a 14-10 victory at Daniel Boone last Friday. Wyomissing looks to bounce back from a 34-14 loss at Cocalico. The Spartans entertain (2-5) Conrad Weiser at 1:30pm on Saturday. A dedication ceremony will take place following the game as the A-Field will officially be named “Bob Wolfrum Field.” Coach Wolfrum has won 356 games, eleven District 3 championships, and the Class 2A state title in 2012. This is his 37th season as Wyomissing’s head coach. He also spent 15 years as an assistant coach.

Twin Valley has won its last two games by one point. These are exciting times in Elverson. The Raiders invade Ephrata on Friday. The (6-1) Mounts trail Twin Valley by one game in the Section 3 standings. Ephrata knocked off Fleetwood 52-28 on Saturday night. Gov. Mifflin and Berks Catholic are both coming off losses and trying to get back to the .500 mark. The Mustangs visit winless Lebanon, while the Saints host (2-5) Octorara. The 49th Frost Bowl is set for Friday night in Leesport. The Hawks lead the series with the Panthers by the slimmest of margins (24-23-1). Schuylkill Valley is riding a six-game winning streak. The (4-3) Hawks are averaging 33 points per contest. Fleetwood is on the road this week against (1-6) Elizabethtown.
