“Roberts Rankings”-Football

Here are my Berks County high school football rankings. Remember that no matter where your favorite team is ranked, the sun will come out tomorrow!

I had Wyomissing #1 in my preseason poll and the Spartans have held down the top spot all year. They’re the only Berks County school still alive in the PIAA playoffs. The Spartans survived a Class 3A quarterfinal at previously unbeaten Danville. The Ironmen missed a go-ahead 32-yard field goal in the final seconds. Wyomissing faces District 12 champion Neumann-Goretti on Saturday in the state semifinals. Kickoff is at 1pm at the Germantown Super Site. These teams squared off last year in the semi’s and the Spartans rolled over the Saints 42-6.

Exeter’s perfect season ended with a 34-14 loss to #12 seed Cocalico in the District 3-5A championship. The (10-4) Eagles extended their winning streak to seven games. They earned their fourth District 3 title. Exeter was attempting to go back-to-back. Cocalico advances to play Pine-Richland in the state semifinals. There are no changes in my poll this week.
