“Roberts Rankings”-Football

Here are my Berks County high school football rankings. Remember that no matter where your favorite team is ranked, the sun will come out tomorrow! Berks County schools went (7-8) last week. There was only one all-Berks matchup. Exeter crushed Muhlenberg 42-8 as Matt Bauer picked up his 100th victory as the Eagles’ head coach. Exeter and Wyomissing remain unblemished. The Spartans defeated Cocalico 38-7 in front of James Franklin and Nick Singleton. Three of the top five squads in last week’s poll came up short. Wilson and Gov. Mifflin lost heartbreaking games in the final seconds. Twin Valley moves up two spots to #4 this week. The Raiders handed Garden Spot its second loss. Twin Valley squares off with (4-3) Ephrata on Friday in Elverson. Gov. Mifflin and Berks Catholic drop one position in my rankings. Schuylkill Valley enters the poll for the first time. The Panthers are riding a 5-game winning streak. They visit Hamburg on Friday. I’ll have live updates of the Frost Bowl from Hawk Hill. Conrad Weiser slips out of my rankings after a 28-12 loss to (2-5) Donegal. The (3-4) Scouts host Wyomissing this week. Exeter travels to (6-1) Hempfield for an intriguing non-league battle. Wilson tries to bounce back at (4-3) Penn Manor and Gov. Mifflin takes on winless Lebanon in Shillington.

  1. I think you give Wyomissing TOO much credit. They beat up on small schools which generally have rosters half the size of Wyo’s – Yes, Wyo is technically a small school, but it has outsized rosters due to unusually high participation rates. If PIAA were fair, Wyo SHOULD be playing at 5A levels. I doubt Wyo is better than either Exeter or Wilson who actually play tough scedules.
