“Roberts Rankings”-Football

Here are my preseason Berks County high school football rankings. Remember that no matter where your favorite team is ranked, the sun will come out tomorrow! Unlike many media outlets, I don’t base my rankings on what happened last year. This is a new season with new players. I also don’t automatically downgrade smaller schools and upgrade bigger schools. If you think every Class A-3A team has 170-pound linemen, you’re not paying attention. I’d suggest a visit to Wyomissing. Likewise, all Class 4A-6A programs don’t have 300-pound linemen. I judge teams on an individual basis while focusing on key returning players. The studs who set school records and are now playing in college won’t be helping your team in 2022. My poll is also shaped by countless conversations with coaches and athletic directors. The records for each team listed below are from last year. The season kicks off this Friday. Can’t wait! We’re extremely fortunate to have so many outstanding football programs in Berks County.
