Here are my Berks County high school boys basketball rankings. Remember that no matter where your favorite team is ranked, the sun will come out tomorrow! Reading claimed its 24th Berks Conference championship with a 51-35 victory over Berks Catholic in front of 3,698 fans at Santander Arena. The defending state champs have won 11 of their last 12 games. Three of the Saints’ four losses have come against Reading. Berks Catholic is the #1 seed in the District 3-4A playoffs. The Saints will host either ELCO or Wyomissing on Thursday in the quarterfinals. Matt Flowers was voted Berks County Coach of the Year in his first season at Muhlenberg. He guided the Muhls to a Division 2 title. They’ll visit Mid-Penn Conference champ Cedar Cliff on Tuesday night in the opening round of the District 3-6A tournament. Exeter upset Wilson in the county quarterfinals before losing a heartbreaker to Berks Catholic 41-40 in the semifinals. The Bulldogs are the #9 seed in the District 3-6A field. They’ll make the long trip to Waynesboro for a 7pm tip on Tuesday. The winner of that matchup will square off with Reading on Friday at the Geigle Complex. Gov. Mifflin barely missed out on the county playoffs despite winning four of its last five contests. Fleetwood earned its first division championship since 1979!
