Here are my Berks County high school boys basketball rankings. Remember that no matter where your favorite team is ranked, the sun will come out tomorrow! Reading remains atop the poll to the surprise of absolutely no one. The Red Knights have won their four league games by an average of 23 points. Berks Catholic stays put at #2. The Saints’ only loss came last week at the Geigle Complex 67-51. Berks Catholic takes on Wilson on Tuesday in West Lawn. The Bulldogs moved up a couple of spots after beating Muhlenberg 57-56 in a thriller. Matt Coldren is tied with Reggie Weiss for the most wins in school history with 362. Coldren, who played for Weiss at Wilson, is in his 21st season as the Bulldogs’ head coach. Exeter jumps one spot to third in my rankings. The Eagles host Gov. Mifflin on Tuesday. Good luck figuring out the rest of Division 1 after Reading. Muhlenberg slips to #5 after splitting its last four games. 6’6 senior Edwin Suarez is pouring in 19 points a night for the Muhls. Gov. Mifflin has dropped two in a row and it’s not getting any easier. The Mustangs square off with Exeter and Muhlenberg this week. Fleetwood remains #7 in my poll. The Tigers suffered their first loss on Saturday at Manheim Central 66-55. Antietam takes over the eighth position from Wyomissing. The Mounts are in first place in Division 4 with a (4-0) league record. It’s the second week of January and the Spartans have only played one league game. A long football season and a week off for Covid-19 related issues mean that Wyomissing’s schedule is going to get very busy.
