The brackets have been released and the county playoffs start on Monday! It was nice to see that the challenge system worked during the coaches’ seeding meeting this week. Exeter deserved to be the #2 seed and the Eagles were able to move up from the #4 spot. Exeter won its most recent meeting with Berks Catholic and the Eagles were the Division 2 champs. It’s interesting how nothing was mentioned when a bigger school lost its challenge of a small school in the BCIAA wrestling coaches’ seeding meeting this year. I guess that story didn’t fit the narrative of certain media members. Oh well, let’s talk some hoops.
Here are my rankings for the Berks Basketball Conference. Remember that no matter where your favorite team is ranked, the sun will come out tomorrow! Reading enters the postseason with a 12-game winning streak. The Red Knights ran the table in Division 1. They’ll meet Schuylkill Valley in the quarterfinals at the Geigle Complex. Exeter moved up two spots, while Berks Catholic and Wilson slipped one position from my previous poll. Four of the Bulldogs’ losses have been by five points or less. There’s no change in my rankings for Muhlenberg, Fleetwood, and Oley Valley. The Muhls travel to Berks Catholic on Monday. The Tigers earned the Division 3 crown despite losing 35-34 at Wyomissing on Tuesday. Fleetwood hosts Wilson in the quarterfinals. The Lynx will be on the road versus Exeter. The Division 4 champions have won eleven in a row. Schuylkill Valley replaced (7-15) Gov. Mifflin in my poll. Two of the Panthers’ five losses came against Fleetwood.
“The Great 8”
1. Reading (21-1)
2. Exeter (17-5)

5. Muhlenberg (14-8)
