Brett and Lucas Myers love football. Brett is entering his fifth season as Twin Valley’s head coach with a mark of (40-11). Lucas, his son, is an All-State linebacker and four-year starter. “We come home [from practice], I’m asking him questions about film. He’s watching film on his own. It’s pretty much always football talk,” explained Lucas Myers. The 6’1, 220-pound senior is tough, hardworking, and selfless. “I like playing football so it doesn’t matter if it’s linebacker, running back or special teams. Whatever I need to do, I love. I’d probably say linebacker is my favorite if I had to pick,” said Lucas Myers.
A lot of people were talking about the Raiders last fall. They went (14-1, 7-0) and beat top-seeded Susquehanna Township for their first District 3 title. They claimed the Section 4 crown in the Lancaster-Lebanon League before that, including their first victory over Wyomissing since 2009. Twin Valley put together its first undefeated regular season in program history. The Raiders made it all the way to the PIAA-4A Championship before falling to Southern Lehigh 43-21. They averaged a staggering 48.7 points per game and set a school record for wins.
Twin Valley lost four All-State picks to graduation, including Drew Engle. He ran for 2,095 yards last year and 4,212 yards in his career. Engle scored a total of 61 touchdowns during his time in Elverson. All three of those previous statistics are school records.
Nobody in the L-L League will be feeling sorry for the Raiders. They still have plenty of talent with six returning starters on each side of the ball. Myers made over 150 tackles and rumbled for 1,198 yards in 2025. He averaged 9.3 yards per carry and reached the end zone 25 times. Maverik Foster passed for 1,302 yards with 17 TD and only 3 INT. He’s moving to running back for his junior campaign while his younger brother, Gavan, takes over at quarterback. The 6’3, 180-pound sophomore has a strong arm.
Twin Valley should be stout again along the line of scrimmage. Liam Sheehan (6’5, 270), Joey Buckley (6’1, 275), and Andrew Cabigas (6’4, 220) are back. Lucas Myers was impressed with how all of the linemen prepared in the offseason. “Those guys are our hardest workers by far. They have been for the last how many years,” he noted. Sheehan, who stands out with his long red hair, is committed to Sacred Heart. Myers is headed to Villanova. “They’re a high level of football. The coaching staff, I really got close to them. It was hard to go a day without texting or calling them. It felt like home,” he replied. Myers can squat 500 pounds and bench press 315. Keenan Munn, Chase Reilly, and Jayce Oliver are other seniors to keep an eye on this fall.
The Raiders are moving up to Section 3 in the L-L League and Class 5A. They have an intriguing non-league schedule beginning at Middletown. Brett Myers was the Blue Raiders’ head coach for eight years. They went (72-22) during his tenure. Middletown was the state runner-up in Class 3A from 2016-18. Twin Valley hosts Susquehanna Township in Week 2 in a rematch of the District 3-4A Final. The Raiders travel to Wyomissing in Week 3. Twin Valley knocked off the Spartans 28-6 at Bob Wolfrum Field a season ago. The Raiders have an enticing crossover contest at Exeter on October 23rd. There will be plenty of buzz about that one at Don Thomas Stadium. October 9th is another date to circle on the calendar. Twin Valley visits Solanco that night in a key Section 3 battle. Lucas Myers is looking forward to kicking off a new year. “We have a good group of guys working super hard,” he said.
