Kris Olsen-Twin Valley

This is Kris Olsen’s first season as the Raiders’ head coach and what a year it has been in Elverson. Twin Valley qualified for the District 3 football playoffs for the first time in school history! The (6-4) Raiders are enjoying their first winning season since 2007. Olsen, who had been Twin Valley’s offensive coordinator and a longtime assistant at Downingtown West, told me that he learned a lot about his team in the season opener. The Raiders outlasted Garden Spot 27-24 in overtime. We talked about four-year starters Dom Caruso and Trey Freeman. Caruso is the school’s all-time leading rusher with nearly 3,600 yards. Freeman has the most receiving yards in Berks County history with over 2,200. Olsen said freshman quarterback Evan Myers continues to improve. Five of the seven teams in Section 2 of the Berks Football League have winning records and six are going to the postseason. Olsen is glad to see these schools getting more attention. Plus, a scouting report on #4 seed Spring Grove. The Rockets are (8-1). #13 Twin Valley travels to Spring Grove on Friday in the first round of the District 3-5A playoffs.
