Berks Catholic and Cocalico were tied at 7 with four minutes left in the District 3-4A quarterfinals. That’s when JayJay Jordan took over. The 160-pound junior HB sprinted 53 yards to give the fourth-seeded Saints a 14-7 lead. After a fumble by Cocalico quarterback Blayke Taddei that was recovered by Jackson Huddleson, Jordan took off 32 yards for another touchdown with 1:10 remaining. Berks Catholic advanced to the semifinals with a hard-fought 21-7 victory over the fifth-seeded Eagles. Jordan talked about his two fourth quarter scores and how the (7-4) Saints came together in the second half. He finished with 86 yards on six carries. Five of his touches came after halftime. Berks Catholic piled up 223 rushing yards against Cocalico. Jordan said the Saints’ backfield trio is explosive. Christian Cacchione ran for 78 yards and a touchdown. 225-pound fullback Luke Hughes added 33 yards on eight carries. Jordan loved the energy from the Berks Catholic student section. We also discussed his upcoming visit to Ohio State and a semifinal date with top-seeded Bishop McDevitt. Jordan told me, “I’m always ready for some competition.”
