“Roberts Rankings”-Football

There are no changes in my Berks County high school football poll this week. Five of the top six teams came out on top in Week 7. I haven’t dropped Muhlenberg in my rankings due to the Muhls’ strength of schedule. They’ve faced Wilson, Solanco, Ephrata, and Conestoga Valley over the past five weeks.

Wilson clinched its 51st consecutive winning season with last Friday’s 41-7 rout of Hempfield. The Bulldogs are riding a five-game winning streak. They’ve given up 20 total points during that stretch. Wilson travels to Penn Manor this week. The (5-2) Comets fell to Manheim Township 35-12 last Friday as Mark Evans earned his 200th career victory. Penn Manor is (0-34) all-time against the Bulldogs.

Twin Valley sits atop the District 3-5A power rankings, one spot ahead of Exeter. The unbeaten Raiders meet Warwick this week in Elverson. The (1-6) Warriors picked up their first win at Fleetwood on Saturday night 31-13.

Exeter battles Muhlenberg at Don Thomas Stadium on Friday. The Eagles have won five in a row. Meanwhile, the Muhls have lost four of their last five contests.

Wyomissing visits Conrad Weiser this Friday in a matchup of longtime coaches. Bob Wolfrum has led the Spartans for 40 years. Alan Moyer is in his 24th season at the helm in Robesonia. Wyomissing has rattled off four straight wins, scoring 189 points in that span. The Scouts are looking to bounce back after getting tripped up by Donegal 23-13.

The Frost Bowl is set for this Friday night in Leesport. Schuylkill Valley and Hamburg are squaring off for the 52nd occasion. The Panthers hold a (26-24-1) edge in the all-time series. They’ve won four in a row versus the Hawks. These schools met for the first time in 1970 with Schuylkill Valley prevailing 34-6. The Panthers won the first seven games between these rivals located along Route 61. The lone tie in the series came in 1979 with a final score of 6-6. Hamburg has been relying heavily on Blaise Ernst. The senior running back has 404 yards and 5 TD on 54 carries over the past two weeks.

Fleetwood hosts Lebanon on Friday. The Cedars have lost 59 consecutive games. Exeter beat Lebanon 69-18 a week ago.

Without further ado, here is my new Berks County high school football poll. Remember that no matter where your favorite team is ranked, the sun will come out tomorrow!
