Seven of the top eight teams in my poll won last Friday. The only close game involved Conrad Weiser. The Scouts rallied to beat Fleetwood 26-23 in Robesonia. Five teams from Berks County remain undefeated. There are no changes in the “Roberts Rankings” this week.
Exeter takes on Lebanon this Friday in Reiffton. The Eagles have outscored their opponents 177-32. It’s been a much different story for the Cedars. They’ve lost 46 consecutive games. Muhlenberg rolled over Lebanon 55-21 last week.
Wyomissing meets ELCO at Bob Wolfrum Field on Saturday afternoon. The (1-3) Raiders got hammered by Twin Valley 60-0 on Friday. Paul Williams (6’3, 250) is the top player up front for ELCO. The Spartans are showing why they’re one of the top ranked teams in the state in Class 4A.
Wilson travels to Cedar Crest this week as Doug Dahms goes for his 200th career victory. The (2-2) Falcons soared past Penn Manor 40-15 on Friday. Isaiah Zimmerman has 474 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. He ran for 1,500 yards a season ago.
Twin Valley squares off against Octorara in Week 5. Make a note that this Thursday night matchup begins at 6pm in Elverson. The Raiders have put up 234 points while allowing just 39 this year. The (3-1) Braves have knocked off Daniel Boone, Kutztown, and Hamburg.
It isn’t always pretty, but Conrad Weiser continues to find a way to get the job done. The Scouts venture to Manheim Central on Friday. The (2-2) Barons took down Bermudian Springs 21-6 last week. Manheim Central only won three games in 2024.
Muhlenberg battles Gov. Mifflin this week in Laureldale. The Muhls have outscored the opposition 199-35 this season. All-State running back Cam Small is averaging 10.6 yards per carry. He has 605 yards on the ground and eleven touchdowns. The Mustangs attempt to get back on track after falling at Exeter 43-15.
Lancaster Catholic at Berks Catholic looked like a marquee matchup before the season. The (2-2) Crusaders, however, have dropped two in a row. They were dismantled by Columbia 43-0 last week. That score raised a lot of eyebrows around the Lancaster-Lebanon League.
Without further ado, here is my poll for Berks County high school football. Remember that no matter where your favorite team is ranked, the sun will come out tomorrow!
