Week 10 of the high school football season is here. There are some huge games coming up this week. Wilson, Wyomissing, and Schuylkill Valley are playing for Section championships! Congratulations to Coach Moyer and the Conrad Weiser Scouts for bringing home the Section 3 title last Friday. Despite several key injuries, the Scouts rallied past Cocalico 24-21. It has been quite a turnaround from Conrad Weiser’s (2-8) campaign in 2023.
There are numerous changes in my rankings. Wilson takes over the top spot from Exeter. The Bulldogs visit undefeated Manheim Township on Friday. Wilson is seeking its 29th Section 1 crown in the Lancaster-Lebanon League. The Bulldogs will have to deal with Declan Clancy and Carson Weisser. Clancy has rumbled for 1,472 yards and 17 touchdowns. Weisser has thrown for 1,562 yards in his first year as the starter. He has 22 TD passes and just one interception. I’ll have live updates from Neffsville.
On Saturday afternoon, I’ll be at Bob Wolfrum Field as Wyomissing and Lampeter-Strasburg battle for the Section 4 championship. I mentioned Caileb Howse last week and he finished with 323 rushing yards and 7 TD runs against Twin Valley. The (9-0) Pioneers hammered the Raiders 62-14 in a stunner. Howse has 1,148 yards through the air and a team-high 1,030 on the ground. The Spartans got bumped up one spot in my poll this week.
Exeter suffered an excruciating 28-27 loss to Conestoga Valley at Don Thomas Stadium. The Eagles are still in position to host a District 3 playoff game. They’re the #8 seed in Class 5A. Exeter travels to Elizabethtown on Friday. The (2-7) Bears fell to Gov. Mifflin 48-14 last week.
Conrad Weiser jumps up one position in my new rankings. The Scouts meet Unionville in Robesonia this Friday. Conrad Weiser is going for its first (10-0) start since 1996!
Twin Valley drops one spot in my poll. The Raiders have allowed 96 points in their last two contests. They try to get back on track this week in Birdsboro. Daniel Boone is sitting at (1-8).
Gov. Mifflin heads south on Route 222 to Ephrata this Friday. Both teams are (5-4). Meanwhile, Schuylkill Valley takes on Lancaster Catholic in Leesport. The Panthers are riding a 6-game winning streak. The (6-3, 5-1) Crusaders trail Schuylkill Valley by one game in the Section 5 standings.
Berks Catholic returns to my rankings after a 48-14 victory over Hamburg. The Hawks were without injured quarterback Tyler Shuey. The Saints are on the bubble in the District 3-3A playoff race. They travel to (4-5) Annville-Cleona this week.
Fleetwood fell out of my poll following a 55-10 defeat at Solanco. The (3-6) Tigers host (6-3) Cocalico on Friday. All three of the Eagles’ losses have come against undefeated teams.
Without further ado, here are my Berks County high school football rankings. Remember that no matter where your favorite team is ranked, the sun will come out tomorrow!
