Wyomissing’s Amaya Stewart is a first team selection in Class 4A for the second straight year. Exeter senior Grace Reedy made the third team in Class 5A.

Stewart averaged 19.5 points while leading the Spartans to their second consecutive Berks League and District 3-4A championships. In the second round of the state playoffs, the 6’1 junior poured in a career-high 33 points in a 62-52 victory over Neumann-Goretti. Wyomissing finished (31-1) and reached the PIAA-4A semifinals. Stewart will enter her senior campaign with 1,339 career points. She improved her range last season and made 21 treys. Stewart has averaged a double-double since her freshman year. She’s a two-time Berks County Player of the Year.

Reedy has led the BCIAA in scoring the past two seasons. The 5’9 guard averaged 21 ppg. this year. She connected 35 times from beyond the arc. Reedy dropped 21 points in the opening round of the District 3-5A tournament at Manheim Central. That performance made her Exeter’s all-time leading scorer. She finished her career with 1,403 points. Reedy is a two-time All-County pick.

Caroline Reedy-Berks Catholic https://berkssportsreport.com/caroline-reedy-berks-catholic/ Mon, 20 Dec 2021 23:39:00 +0000 https://berkssportsreport.com/?p=2274 Bob Birmingham has accomplished a lot in 33 seasons as a head basketball coach. He’s won five Berks County championships and three District 3 titles. Birmingham reached another milestone on Friday at the KSA Tournament in Orlando. Berks Catholic defeated Roosevelt High School of Oregon 49-12 giving Birmingham his 600th career victory! Senior Caroline Reedy explained why he has been so successful over a long period of time. Birmingham spent 22 years at Holy Name before being named the head coach at Berks Catholic. He’s (600-293) overall. Reedy is averaging a team-high 12 points per game for the (4-2) Saints. The 5’9 G/F poured in 23 points earlier this month against Oley Valley. Reedy came up big in the Berks County championship last season. The all-county selection finished with 19 points in a 55-45 win over Wyomissing. That was Berks Catholic’s third county title since 2017. We talked about the Saints’ recent trip to Walt Disney World. Reedy told me that it was a great bonding experience, especially with three freshman on the varsity roster. Sydney Corado, Madison Langdon, and Molly McFadden are all getting significant playing time. Reedy added that it’s beneficial to play teams from outside of Pennsylvania. She also revealed her favorite ride at Disney World. Berks Catholic has one of the top shooters in the state in Caraline Herb. “She’s like a machine,” said Reedy. Herb led the county with 60 3-pointers last season. The 5’7 junior guard knocked down twelve in one game! That performance vs. Reading in February tied the state record. Reedy is excited to take on Gov. Mifflin on Tuesday. The Mustangs were the Division 1 champs last season. Reedy enjoys the competition in Berks County. Plus, I found out about her pets and whether or not they get along.
