The fourth-seeded Raiders took down fifth-seeded Milton Hershey 43-29 in the Class 4A quarterfinals. Paul McClune believes the younger players will benefit greatly from that postseason experience. “I think they’re gonna be a lot more comfortable playing in big pressure moments,” he replied. Twin Valley’s roster in 2022 included 22 juniors, 15 sophomores, and only eight seniors. A lot of key parts are returning to Elverson. “We’ve played together for so long that I have big expectations for this group,” said McClune. The 6’4, 295-pound senior has an offer from Division I Morgan State. He was a second team guard in Section 3 of the Lancaster-Lebanon League a season ago. Evan Myers will be starting at quarterback for the third straight year. The rising junior can beat opponents with his arm and his legs. Myers passed for just over 1,200 yards with only three interceptions. He added eleven rushing touchdowns. Speedy running back Evan Johnson finished with 992 yards and 17 scores during his sophomore campaign. Multi-sport star Ean Winchester is a physical presence on both sides of the ball. The 6’2, 250-pound senior had 70 tackles and nine sacks for the (7-5) Raiders. Winchester is an all-county wrestler and lacrosse player. Twin Valley split its six league games last fall. The Raiders finished in a tie for fourth place behind Solanco, Elizabethtown, and Garden Spot. McClune is a Steelers’ fan who enjoys fishing in his spare time. He had a short answer when asked who the favorite is in Section 3 this year. McClune responded, “Us.”
