They knocked off #5 seed Cocalico 21-7 at the Forino Sports Complex. JayJay Jordan had two long TD runs in the final four minutes of the fourth quarter. Christian Cacchione provided Berks Catholic’s other score on a 36-yard run late in the second quarter. That touchdown came after an incredible interception by senior defensive end Tyler Givens. Cacchione told me that play was a game changer. He also said that Givens has some of the best hands on the team. Cacchione added that playing at home was a big advantage for the (7-4) Saints. The senior HB/FS ran for 78 yards on 15 carries. He has over 1,100 rushing yards this season. Cacchione gave credit to the offensive line. He stressed that facing a difficult schedule in the regular season, including unbeaten Gov. Mifflin, really helped the Saints vs. Cocalico. Berks Catholic will travel to #1 seed Bishop McDevitt in the semifinals. The Saints are (19-4) all-time in the District 3 playoffs.

Christian Cacchione-Berks Catholic https://berkssportsreport.com/christian-cacchione-berks-catholic-3/ Wed, 27 Oct 2021 20:02:00 +0000 https://berkssportsreport.com/?p=1912 Christian Cacchione definitely knows how to find his way to the end zone. The 175-pound senior is tied for fourth in Berks County with 17 touchdowns. He’s two yards shy of 1,000 on the ground and is averaging 22 yards per catch. Cacchione is also a dangerous kick returner. He has taken two punts and one kickoff to the house this season. I asked him which TD was his favorite. Cacchione said he likes making big hits in addition to scoring. The free safety is second on the team in tackles with 49. Cacchione is expecting the Forino Sports Complex to be rocking when the Saints take on Nick Singleton and the undefeated Gov. Mifflin Mustangs on Friday. Singleton has a county record 101 career TD’s. He’s headed to Penn State. Cacchione believes that Berks Catholic’s schedule has helped them against bigger, physical teams. He also knows how important the offensive line is to his success. Cacchione is averaging 7.6 yards per carry. The Saints are (6-3) overall and (3-1) in Section 1 of the Berks Football League.

Christian Cacchione sprinted 91 yards with the opening kickoff for a TD! The senior HB/FS contributed in all three phases of the game as Berks Catholic defeated the Blazers 40-7. Cacchione had nine carries for 39 yards and a TD. He also came up with a 37-yard catch. Cacchione was very impressed with senior QB Mitchell Gatz. He also said that the Saints competed for four quarters tonight which hasn’t always been the case this season. Cacchione told me that he believes Berks Catholic is as good as any team in Section 1 of the Berks Football League. The Saints are (4-2).

He went 71 yards to the house on the first play of a scrimmage with Lancaster Catholic. The Berks Catholic senior scored a team-high 11TD last year in eight games. He ran for 562 yards (7.9/carry) and averaged 30 yards on his ten catches. Cacchione made 55 tackles and added 2INT. He was a first team all-county DB and all-purpose back. As for the upcoming season, Cacchione said, “I don’t see many people stopping us.” Plus, find out which team he uses when playing Madden NFL. You probably won’t like the answer!
