PIAA 1st Round-Boys Basketball

It has been a banner year for high school boys basketball in Berks County. Reading, Exeter, and Berks Catholic won District 3 championships in their respective classifications. Fleetwood and Antietam finished second in Class 4A and 2A. Wilson and Muhlenberg also qualified for the state playoffs. Here’s a look at their opening round matchups in the PIAA tournament.

Class 6A

Haverford at Reading at 3pm on Saturday.

Wilson vs. Pittsburgh Central Catholic at Gateway High School at 3:30pm on Saturday.

Class 5A

Fox Chapel at Exeter at 6pm on Friday.

Muhlenberg at Unionville at 7pm on Friday.

Class 4A

Uniontown at Berks Catholic at 6pm on Friday.

Cardinal O’Hara at Fleetwood at 7pm on Friday.

Class 2A

Antietam at Dock Mennonite at 6pm on Saturday.

Navigating the playoff bracket in District 3 is never an easy thing. Three girls basketball teams from Berks County are still standing. Here are their opening round matchups in the state tournament.

Class 4A

Berks Catholic vs. Audenried at Bensalem High School at 3pm on Saturday.

Parkway Center City at Wyomissing at 4:30pm on Saturday.

Class A

High Point vs. The Christian Academy at Delaware County Christian School at 6pm on Saturday.

All-County Team-Boys Basketball

Here is the 2022-23 All-County boys basketball team as voted on by the coaches in the Berks Conference. Ruben Rodriguez of Reading and Fleetwood’s Jake Karnish are the only repeat selections. Rodriguez, who’s committed to Rider, was named the Player of the Year for the second straight season.

Here is the 2022-23 All-County girls basketball team as voted on by the coaches in the Berks League. Alexis Hess of Fleetwood is the only repeat selection. The Kansas State commit has been named to the All-County team for the fourth consecutive season.
